Range Maintenance Work Party
4th Saturday of each month - April through October.

If you absolutely can NOT attend a scheduled workparty, but want to help or need workparty credit, email Stan St.L-B - facilities@scottsvalleysportsmen.com - Should be able to arrange independent work on other days.   Lots to do, and only 4 workparties left in 2017.

Tools & gear desired for 07/22/2017:

Weed/brush trimmers.  Branch loppers/cutters.  Truck(s).

Major Tasks for 07/22/2017, depending on attendee signups:

1- Lunch delivery volunteer needed.  Ideally delivered by 11:30.  Paper goods, water & drinks are in range Connex box.  Ice would be nice.    Contact Steve Trebbe, vicepresident@scottsvalleysportsmen.com.

2- Lead stilling pit for Pistol range.  Build pit walls with concrete block & concrete.  Modify PVC fill pipe as needed. Create outfall to creek with riprap, blocks, rocks and concrete.  August workparty will seal/line the pit concrete, after curing.

3- Range Brush & branch trimming.  Remove hand-clearable vegetation inside range, sides of ranges, walkways, gates.

4- Improve front gate parking lot entry path.  Fill holes, shovel, level & rake.  Replace rotten step boards with PT boards and/or concrete blocks from range material.   Evaluate & prep path for gravel to improve rainy season use.

5- Non-potable water storage for range maintenance.  Relocate existing (non-shot up) 50 gal barrels, as cisterns under roof downspouts.  Mark with "non-potable water"  using stencils/paint.  Fill with water from SVWD Recycled water station, across from SV senior center, using truck & dozen+ 5 gal range buckets & lids.

6- Access road clearing.  Walk the road, trim brush and fill small holes.  Larger damage will be addressed in future with tractor.

7- Rifle range storm washout repair wrapup.  Build low retaining wall with PT boards and/or concrete blocks, keep the rocks at bottom from sliding down.

8- Target stand storage in Pistol range.  Move hangers and mark frame outlines as needed.  Hangers aren't used, maybe just need relocation, or a bit of monkey-see/monkey-do, copy/paste?

9- Clean up Pistol & Rifle target areas (houses & flat areas, not berms). Shovel, fill rivulets/holes, rake, sweep.  Pickup brass, clear drain boxes.
