This is the regular monthly meeting of the Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club membership.  All members and guests are welcome to attend to learn about current club activities and discuss club business. 

Persons wishing to join the club are encouraged to attend, but should also go to our web site and fill out the application form which is accessed by clicking on the "Join Us" button. 

GUEST SPEAKER:  Mary Edmund, Executive Director, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Mary has a very interesting background, and an important job in preparing citizens to respond to emergencies in our community. Here's her bio.

Born in Detroit, Michigan.
Moved to Leavenworth, Kansas at 10 years of age.

Enlisted in Army at 17 to get out of Kansas “and see the world”. As Private selected for nursing scholarship and graduated from Walter Reed Army Hospital, School of Nursing

First assignment in Honolulu, Hawaii as nurse for 4 years then spent rest of career in Washington DC

Army Reserve -- Various medical units -- general and station hospitals, MASH unit, and most important, mothering years for a son and daughter.

After 8 years back on Active Duty at Pentagon -– Primarily involved with programming, legislation and budgeting for military health care and personnel policy issues for the Department of Defense.

Additionally, consulted with NATO countries concerning military field medicine -- retired as a Colonel at age 47.

Moved to Aptos and became a career volunteer (pro bono worker) for the past 23 years.

CERT is an all-volunteer public benefit non-profit with the mission of:

Forming cohesive Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) for immediate disaster response in neighborhoods and communities, and management and sustainability of the CERT Program.
