Invoices for 2024 Dues will be emailed to all club members on December 1st.  Please don't pay before you get your invoice. There are two reasons for this:

1.  When you pay using the online link found on your invoice, the process of recording your payment is automated. If you pay early, the treasurer has to process it manually, which takes more time. The treasurer is a volunteer, so please don't make more work for the treasurer than necessary.

2.  Members who have completed approved club service (like helping at a range maintenance work party) are exempt from paying the annual Club Service Obligation fee. Sometimes we don't get all the records updated until just before we send the invoices, so if you try to pay early, the system may try to force you to pay a club service obligation you don't owe. Also, if you should be getting club service credit, please log in to your database record in mid-late November and make sure it's been recorded. Unfortunately, we're not perfect.

If your club service is not recorded by mid-November, send email to the club secretary (secretary@scottsvalleysportsmen.com) and let him know that he has to update your record before December 1st.

Did you leave a partial box (11 rounds, I think) of 9mm in the Pistol House Tuesday, 5/9? If so, I have confiscated it because we don't want live ammo left sitting out for someone to pick up. Yes, we have a big fence and locked gates, but it's not impossible for some kid to get in if he's persistent enough.  You can have your ammo back by emailing treasurer@scottsvalleysportsmen.com, or if not claimed in a week, I will shoot it up myself.

Has anyone found a pair of men's bifocal glasses with black titanium frames at the range this past week?  If so, call Jeff Hill at 408-859-2103.

Green Hills Road is closed again Friday morning, 3/10/23 because of a mudslide. The gate on Navarra Road is open, providing access to the range from the North.  

SVPD and Public Works are on scene Friday morning attempting to clear the slide...we will check back later today and tomorrow to see if they are successful and reopen the road. 

Monday morning January 9th. SVPD reports that Green Hills Road is partially blocked by a mudslide at approx 1100 address. The gate that normally closes the north end of Green Hills Rd has been opened.

It's a good day to avoid going to the range. Lots of mud, danger of falling limbs or whole trees.

Please log in to your account on the club's website BEFORE 12/1/2022 and check that we have your current, correct email and postal addresses, changes to emergency contact name, etc.

If you performed club service in 2022 (range maintenance work party, volunteer helper for CMP  or Swiss Pistol shooting matches, Youth Program Instructor, Independence Day Parade assistance for City of Scotts Valley, special maintenance projects, membership committee, etc.,) BE SURE THAT YOUR CLUB SERVICE FOR 2022 IS RECORDED IN THE DATABASE. If your club service has not been recorded, contact the board member who sponsored the activity, or the club treasurer before the end of November to get it corrected.

We finally received a propane delivery today and the electrical system has been turned back on. 

Effective January 1st we cannot put organic waste in our dumpster. This includes stuff like raked up redwood needles, branches, logs, weeds, grass clippings, and also food scraps. We will establish a compost pile for the needles, cones, brush, etc. that we collect.

Food scraps should be bagged and taken home for disposal in your home garbage.

The dumpster should be reserved for waste cardboard target backers, broken target stands, used targets, ammo boxes and plastic separators, soiled paper towels and hand/bench wipes, empty soap bottles or sprayers, steel or aluminum cartridge cases, shotgun shells, broken metal or plastic items/equipment, etc. 

The alternative to these changes is for the club to spend $200/month to get an organic waste dumpster, and then police and sort what goes in each dumpster.

It's your range...keep it clean AND don't cost us all a bunch of money in fines for careless disposal.

This week the Pistol House handwashing station drain was clogged up with sand and would  not drain. Please be careful what you put down these drains. They are not designed to handle a lot of stuff that is not water and soap.

Please remember that the handwashing stations are maintained by a club volunteer. Clogging up the drain with sand, paper towels or other debris makes his job a lot harder, as well as making the station non-functional for members who need to wash their hands after shooting. Our club depends upon volunteers for virtually all routine maintenance, and it's everyone's responsibility to help make their job easier.
